The New Storage and Scoreboard Building

Those Northowram residents who’ve been getting in their daily walks this winter might have noticed a new building going up at the Club. This new storage facility has replaced the old shipping containers that had been in place for roughly 20 yrs and had, quite frankly, seen better days. David Moore and Nigel Dodd (who formed a ‘bubble’ and have been working outside) have masterminded the project as well as completing the vast majority of the work on it, a truly tremendous achievement considering it’s hardly been a mild winter and neither had any prior experience of this type of building construction.

When finished, the building will not only house all the ground machinery and equipment but also the cricket scoreboard, as well as providing additional storage for the various clubs that use the Northowram Fields pitch.

Phase two of the project will be to remove the old scoreboard/box in the bottom corner of the ground and replace this with some purpose built nets for training and coaching.  It’s hoped that phase two is likely to happen in autumn/winter of the 2021/22 season.

As always, we are looking for volunteers to serve refreshments and sell sweets in the kitchen and work behind the bar at each home match and training nights.  Please let your coach know if you are able to help at one or more of them.
